Stun guns are an excellent means of self-defense; first as a deterrent and, if need be, they can disable an attacker temporarily by delivering a non-lethal, high-voltage electric shock. Just test firing one of them into the air is often enough to stop an attack or aggressive activity. As the bright electric current pulsates between the test prongs it creates an intimidating electrical sight and sound. An attacker with any sense at all will stop in his tracks. If the sight and sound doesn’t stop him a jolt from the unit certainly will! Simply touching him with the device will deliver a high voltage shock causing loss of balance and muscle control, confusion, and disorientation- bringing him to his knees and making him incapable of further aggressive activity. Full recovery takes about five to ten minutes.
Stun guns have been on the market now for well over two decades. Stun guns are an electrical self-defense device that puts out a high voltage and low amperage shock that causes pain and electrical disruption to an assailant. When you hit some one with the stun device the electrical charge makes a loop through the body. Basically jumping from one probe through the body and back out to the other probe. The further the spread of the contact points, the more devastating the effects are to the assailant.
What the current does is cause the muscles to do a lot of work very rapidly. Your body tightens up to defend against the pain whether is a strike from a fist to the stomach or a stun gun to the chest. This depletes the blood sugar and starts converting it in to lactic acid. Once enough lactic acid builds up the target can no longer create energy and they lose control of their body. This usually takes several seconds of contact at a minimum to make this happen. People in pain want to get away and that is what you should expect. When you hit some one with a hand-held unit they will back up immediately and try to avoid the source of the pain, IE the stun gun. Even the sound is enough to intimidate most people and even animals.
The voltage on a stun gun may appear high, but it is the amps that actually matter when it comes to permanent damage or death. The stun guns we sell are less-lethal devices. They are designed NOT to kill people, but merely to cause pain to gain control or to get away depending on the application. To put things in perspective, one amp will kill a person. Our stun guns deliver 3 to 4 milliamps. This is far below the amperage that could do any lasting damage to an individual.
Stun guns are considered reasonable force to resist attack. They can be used many times to ward off attackers before the battery needs recharging, or replacing. Even if the assailant is touching you, there is no way the current will pass to you. There is no shock-back.
When using the stun gun on an assailant, you will not hear the loud zapping electrical discharge that you do when testing. All the available energy is being discharged into his body. The stun gun cannot be damaged by the continuous firing into an assailant.
